HAPPY 2020!

I know! I know! It already the second month of the year and it has also been a while since I posted anything here. But before you throw virtual stones at me, hear me out. Please….pretty please.

I started this blog last year, in the hope that I would have MY space where I would share with you guys my adventures, tips as I learned them and even work toward bringing your guys along for some of the trips. But as fate would have it, 2019 had other plans for me. In a nutshell, this past year was the most challenging year I’ve ever experienced in my life. The year began with me losing my dad, which was such a huge blow to me that it made me question everything in my life. I also lost my job and had other challenges in my personal life. So as much as I wanted my first year of blogging to be an epic one, I honestly didn’t have the energy or the morale to keep at it. So I ghosted!

Come 2020, determined to make a 180-degree turn, I decided this is going to be MY YEAR! Aaaaand, I got too excited and took so much on my plate that it has taken me a good minute to get the hang of it and have some sort of a balance. That’s the reason why I didn’t post anything the whole of January and why the year, at least on this blog, begins today…lol Not to worry though, as I have BIG plans for this year, and ghosting is not on the menu.

Mind Shift

Towards the end of last year, I came across this YouTube channel by the name Yes Theory. It’s basically a bunch of young dudes that challenge each other, and random strangers, to get out of their comfort zone and do something they’ve always wanted to do, a bucket list item if you may. Their tag line is SEEK DISCOMFORT, you should really check them out if you are looking for fun entertaining videos that will leave you wanting to do more with your life. So back to me, I binged watched these videos and got inspired to seek discomfort in my own life, to say YES more to opportunities that take me out of my comfort zone. I got challenged to do those things I’ve always told myself that I couldn’t do. And then Kipchoge Keino, with his “No human is limited” campaign brought this theory home and now I am more determined to see how far I can go and find out how strong I am.

So my biggest plan for 2020 is to SEEK DISCOMFORT continuously. And how do I plan on doing that you ask? I want to DO more, CREATE more; I want to challenge myself to give 150% in everything that is placed in my life. And I know that sounds ambitious and maybe unrealistic, but in testing how far I can go, I need to know that I have given my all and then some.

2020 Goals

So here are some of the things I hope to achieve this year.

Get Active/ Venture into Adventure Travel

The plan here is to take up more outdoor activities: running, cycling, trekking, hiking, etc. I think these kinds of activities will help me to only work on my physical health, but also mental. If you follow me on Instagram, which you should if you haven’t, then you know that I’ll be attempting to summit Mount Kenya come Easter. I have always thought you had to be a ninja to take up hiking, but after a few mountaineering friends encouraged me to do it, I am up for the challenge. Setting this goal dictates that I need to eat right, train and continuously remain active in the next couple of months, all things I wanted to achieve this year anyway.

Let's be real, making new friends as an adult is TOUGH! Your circle either revolves around guys you went to school with, those you work with, your family aaaannd afew that you've met along the way. ⁣ ⁣ 👣⁣ ⁣ But travel opens you up to new friendship opportunities. Its by getting out there that you meet all sorts of people; some will only be in your life a day and leave you with a lifetime of memories, others might even become lifelong friends. This year, I don’t want to only be the girl behind the keyboard or Tembea na Mo on social media. No, I want to go out and meet fellow travellers like you. I want to interact with new people and create new friendships. I want you to meet me and know me. And in that spirit, I’ll be saying YES to more travel tags. So, comment below on where you are planning to travel to this year, I just might tag along. Also, those local travel plans, road trips, random camps, tag me in of them!

Take on Bigger Projects

Now I haven’t really figured out how exactly I am going to this, but I am putting it out there that this year, I want to work with brands that I love, other travel content creators for collabs and grow this Tembea Na Mo brand exponentially.

All this is to say that, you’ll be seeing, watching and reading a lot from me this year. I aim to post every Wednesday morning both here and on YouTube, so be on the lookout for that. So here is to more travels this year, and doing better than we did in the last! Hope to see you out there! Cheers!
